Story: Martin Stallard

Very little is known about Martin Stallard, but his name appears in pre-Novagen days, and he seems to have had key roles in that story. Here are bits collected from the Internet, emails and magazines inteviews.

According to Bruce Jordan, Martin "encouraged" Paul Woakes writing Encounter. Martin and Paul together were looking for someone interested in publishing the game.
Bruce refers to it as "their software game".

Martin also appears in Mercenary with St Stallards chruch. Martin's role regarding Mercenary (if any), is unknown.

Later on, Martin introduced Peter Pachla to Paul Woakes. Peter started working on Backlash, "after chatting to Martin Stallard, who had expressed a desire to see a version of Encounter for the ST."
Martin Stallard is credited as "design assistant" on Backlash.

Mo Warden reports, in her interview in Retro Gamer (issue 166), that Martin was a regular attendee at Damocles meetings during its development, throwing ideas in. He is thanked in Damocles, with "thanks to Martin as ever for constructive criticism".
